An identity grown from a single crystal.
Visual identity, outreach toolkit and website for EuroCZFactory, a Horizon Europe project in which 16 partners from 8 countries are making advanced Czochralski silicon technology ready for large-scale solar manufacturing in Europe. One system, grown from the object the whole consortium works on: the silicon wafer.

EuroCZFactory started with a grant agreement, a long technical title and a public launch already behind it, but without a visual identity. Its audiences range from researchers and manufacturers to policymakers, and its sixteen partners each bring their own brand to the table. The project needed a look as precise as the science behind it, one that holds its own next to sixteen partner logos and the EU emblem, and that the communication team can keep running after handover. It also had to stay clear of the usual solar shorthand: panels in fields, blue skies, sunsets.
Strategic lens. Every partner in EuroCZFactory works on the same object: the silicon wafer, sliced from a single crystal pulled from the melt with the Czochralski process. Seen head-on, a wafer is already a system, a disc of identical cells, ordered and repeatable. So the identity was not drawn on top of the science. It was found inside it.
Approach. The Wafer Grid is a round wafer filled with chamfered, eight-sided cells, the shape of real monocrystalline cells, with one cell in coral to mark CZ. That single cell builds everything else: the logo, the lattice pattern and the grids behind print, slides and web. Deep navy, coral and silicon silver set the palette. Space Grotesk and Chakra Petch give it the tone of an engineering document rather than a campaign. Guidelines, templates and a CMS turn the system into something the consortium runs itself.
Grown cell by cell.
The logo animation follows the material. One coral cell for CZ seeds the lattice, the wafer edge closes around it, the alignment marks lock in and the wordmark opens along the line.
One crystal, sixteen cells.
We extended the system to the consortium. Each of the sixteen partners owns one cell of the same wafer: its own mark inside the project identity, and a ready-made series for introducing the partners on social media.

The website, live.
euroczfactory.eu, built with its own CMS for the communication team. The hero carries a live value-chain animation that follows the material from silicon to ingot, wafer, PV manufacturing and recovery.
Grown in Europe.
To see how far the system stretches, we took it off the page and into the street. A campaign concept for the project's public moments: a master line with a key visual built from the same lattice and coral cell, and a typographic series that tells the process in four numbers.

Melt. Grow. Slice. Connect.
Four posters, four numbers from the process, four treatments taken from the identity: numerals that open onto the melt, letters pulled upward like a crystal, the thinnest weight on a single hairline, and digits built from the Wafer Grid's own cells.

“Logo approved in early September, print toolkit delivered in October, website live with its own CMS by the end of the month. EuroCZFactory now speaks with one visual voice, from a conference roll-up to a LinkedIn post, and has the templates and tools to keep it that way. The identity does what the project sets out to do: start from a single crystal, and scale.”
